HISTORY

Rubberneck was founded in May of 2017 by Charlie and John Cibula. The space serves as a studio, gallery and residence on the near west side of Chicago in West Town / Ukrainian Village, a recent hub of Chicago art. Rubberneck is a commercial gallery of Chicago that specializes in contemporary art; painting, photography and fiber based artworks. The gallery actively promotes the work of emerging local and under represented artists and seeks to strengthen local and global networks, adding to a tradition of growing independent, cooperative and artist-run spaces in Chicago.

MISSION

Rubberneck is committed to building a community-centric environment that promotes local, emerging and under-represented artists and makers. The gallery is devoted to fostering a sense of community and empowerment for Chicago-based artists, striving to create an open environment where creators are inspired to bring art to the public and facilitate change within the art market. The desired outcome for this gallery is to cultivate an artist-run exhibition space and contribute to a growing art community in Chicago. The gallery exhibits innovative artists across disciplines through bi-monthly solo, group and two-person exhibitions in our brick-and-mortar space in Chicago's West Town art district.
